Covering 6 to 12 June 2026. A quiet week, with one transmission planning note and two connectivity cases settled. Every item is checked against the issuing authority's own document.

1. CEA advises alignment with implementation timelines for ISTS projects

CEA · 12 June 2026

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has issued an office memorandum on general implementation timelines for ISTS projects. Generation and transmission developers, distribution companies (DISCOMs), bulk loads and other stakeholders are advised to take the timelines into account when planning generation or load schedules, financial closure, equipment procurement and related milestones, for better alignment with the corresponding transmission system. The timelines themselves are not set out in the update.

Why it matters for wind: Wind and hybrid projects connecting to the ISTS need the network ready when they commission. Tying financial closure and procurement plans to transmission timelines reduces the risk of plants waiting on lines and substations.

2. CERC closes two change-of-source petitions after CTUIL approvals

CERC · 12 June 2026 (Petitions 227/MP/2026 and 107/MP/2026)

Serentica Renewables India Private Limited had sought directions to the Central Transmission Utility of India (CTUIL) to approve its change-of-source applications dated 16 October 2025 under the GNA Regulations, and to stop CTUIL creating third-party rights over its connectivity. CTUIL has since allowed the change of source, and the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) permitted the petition to be withdrawn.

In the second case, Percentum Renewables Private Limited had sought directions to approve its change-of-source application dated 8 December 2025 and to stop CTUIL allocating its non-solar hour access to third parties. CTUIL approved the change of source on 30 April 2026, the petition became infructuous and withdrawal was permitted.

Why it matters for wind: Change of source is the route for a connected project to alter its granted access, including the non-solar hour access tied to wind. Both matters ended once CTUIL approved, so such requests can be resolved with the transmission utility rather than through a contested order.
